Recovery Centers of America is seeking a Windows System Administrator to join the IS infrastructure team. This position will be part of the team responsible for installing, operational, and maintaining Windows systems, software, and associated infrastructure. The Administrator will serve as the escalation point for Service Desk personnel in troubleshooting end-user issues. In-depth knowledge of AD, DNS, DHCP, GPO, primary application, system, troubleshooting, and intermediate knowledge of VMware required. Maintain current knowledge of industry best practices and trends and new developments for the technologies deployed/supported.

As a Windows System Administrator, your duties will include but will not be limited to the following:

  • Operating System Support: Independently or as part of a team provide perform the installation, operation/support, and maintenance of Windows systems, software, and associated infrastructure. Including monitoring system logs, conducting an analysis of performance issues, system failures, and other events impacting operational stability. Generation of reports, postmortems, and root cause analyses are required as needed.
  • Active Directory: This position will provide support typically associated with a Domain Administrator’s role. The role will be supporting the schema and directory infrastructure, DNS, certificates, security, trust relationships, monitoring and alerting, domain controller maintenance, policy monitoring, compliance, managing group policies.
  • Security: As part of a team, this position has responsibilities for the security of the infrastructure. Include monitoring vulnerabilities, installing and maintaining virus protection software, responding to and notifying management of problems detected. Review documentation, test, and install updates. Responsible for installation, upgrade, configuration, security, monitoring, and tuning of servers. Work directly with vendor technical support to resolve issues whenever appropriate. Assist in the development of support documentation.
  • Server Virtualization and Cloud: An understanding and familiarity of server virtualization and cloud technologies are required. Typical tasks include migrating physical systems to virtual, migration of on-premises systems to the cloud, monitoring resource consumption to ensure proper sizing.
  • Day to Day Operations: Work with team members to monitor ticket queues to ensure RCA systems’ smooth operation. Typical duties include patching, anti-virus, file system maintenance, file share management, user and group management. Also, this position provides technical support for applications hosted by RCA. The incumbent will work with other RCA staff, RCA departments, and vendors for application installation and support.
  • Projects: This position will provide technical leadership on projects. These projects include efforts from the RCA Project Management office and operational projects sponsored by the team. Tasks include developing project documentation, planning, and technical duties, While keeping management informed of project status and issues that may arise.
  • Research: Research, test, and recommend new technologies, as part of a team, for implementation and maintain documentation on ongoing activities. Assist other RCA team members in related projects. Maintain general competence in technologies by working with vendors’ technical support staff. Keep up to date with new technology by utilizing internet sources, manuals, training, networking with peers, and any other means available.

 

Qualifications

 

General

  • Self-motivated and self-directed while demonstrating the ability to prioritize competing tasks/projects.

  • Ability to develop effective working relationships with peers

Required Technical Skills

  • Proven experience with Windows Server operating systems, managing or troubleshooting systems of scale (cloud, virtualization, distributed networks, colocation.)
  • Experience in Networking (e.g., Deploying and troubleshooting LAN, VPN, TCP/IP, etc.)
  • Technical problem investigation, complex analysis, and finding/implementing solutions promptly.
  • Experience in VMware and Azure technologies.
  • Understands and implements best practices surrounding system design and business process documentation.
  • Develop/Maintain knowledge of Windows-based technologies both industry-wide as well as those used within RCA.

Preferred Technical Skills

  • Proven experience with Microsoft Active Directory
  • Proven experience with converting manual process into automated tasks
  • Knowledge of server virtualization and cloud
  • Demonstrate the ability to work and communicate in challenging situations.
  • Broad knowledge of computer security issues, requirements, and trends,
