Accounting Manager

Position Overview: The position will work under the administrative direction of and report directly to the Corporate Controller. The position responsibilities include but are not limited to managing and overseeing the daily operations of the corporate accounting department, financial reporting and analysis and other special projects as assigned. Advises in annual budgeting and prepares accounting reports for executive leadership. Reviews work submitted by accountants and manages accounting close processes. Performs analysis on business unit financial and accounting metrics for presentation to leadership.

Specific Responsibilities:

Manage and oversee the daily operations of the accounting department including:

    • month end and year end close process
    • general ledger
    • budgeting
    • cash forecasting
    • expenditure variance analysis
    • capital assets reconciliations
    • bank account statement reconciliations
    • balance sheet reconciliations
    • fixed asset activity
    • debt activity
    • insurance
    • corporate allocations
    • utilities analysis
    • preparation and review of monthly financials
    • audit liaison
  • Preparation of monthly financial statements, reports and records by collecting, analyzing and summarizing account information.
  • Actively works with department heads on budgeting and communication of actual results.
  • Monitor and analyze accounting data and produce financial reports or statements
  • Establish and enforce proper accounting methods, policies and principles
  • Coordinate with external auditors and complete annual audits including preparation of financial statements
  • Provide recommendations
  • Improve systems and procedures and initiate corrective actions
  • Assign projects and direct staff to ensure compliance and accuracy
  • Meet financial accounting objectives
  • Establish and maintain fiscal files and records to document transactions
  • Financial and profitability analysis on a requested basis.
  • Other special projects as requested by the Corporate Controller.

 

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required
  • 5 years’ experience in an accounting role with continuing progression of responsibility
  • 2+ years’ working experience as an Accounting Manager
  • Advanced computer skills on MS Office, accounting software and databases
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to manipulate large amounts of data
  • Proven knowledge of bookkeeping and accounting principles, practices, standards, laws and regulations
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to direct and provide guidance to accounting staff
  • Excellent leadership experience required with the ability to solve problems in a team-oriented environment.
  • CPA is a plus.
  • MBA is a plus.

Work Environment: May work in a variety of environments including professional offices, clinics, hospitals, or out-patient facilities. They spend much of their time on their feet, actively working with patients.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to use hands to finger, handle or feel objects, tools or controls. The employee is occasionally required to stand; walk; sit; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move objects up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision and the ability to adjust focus.

Travel: Travel is primarily local during the business day, although some out-of-the-area and overnight travel may be expected.
